Nentawe Yilwatda, the newly appointed Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has promised to make tough decisions as the leader of the ruling party. He made this statement on Channels Television’s Politics Today program shortly after his emergence as APC chair.

Yilwatda emphasized his commitment to taking bold steps in his new role. He did not shy away from hinting at the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in his ability to navigate them.

One of Yilwatda’s key objectives is to attract more governors from opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to join the APC. He believes that this will strengthen the party’s position and expand its influence.

To achieve his goal, Yilwatda said he would focus on grassroots engagement and outreach efforts. By investing in legwork and building relationships, he aims to create opportunities for PDP and other opposition governors to join the APC.

“My immediate priority is that the party is united,” he said, saying he will coordinate the party to implement its manifesto to the fullest.

The newly appointed All Progressives Congress (APC), chairman is a multifaceted individual with a background in engineering and community development. He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

Yilwatda’s academic experience includes serving as a former lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in Benue State. This role showcases his expertise and commitment to education.

A native of Plateau State, Yilwatda has also had a distinguished career in public service. He previously served as the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In October 2024, President Bola Tinubu appointed Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. Yilwatda held this position until his recent emergence as the APC national chairman.

With his wealth of experience in engineering, education, and public service, Yilwatda is expected to bring a unique set of skills and perspectives to his new role as APC Chairman. His appointment has generated significant interest and expectations about his leadership and vision for the party.
