Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Speaking at a recent event in Kano, Kwankwaso expressed his concerns about the government’s policies and actions.
Kwankwaso specifically highlighted the issue of resource distribution, alleging that the administration has focused on developing the southern part of the country while neglecting the north. He believes this has led to an imbalance in development and opportunities between the two regions.
The NNPP presidential candidate made these remarks at the Kano State Stakeholders’ Dialogue on the 2025 Constitutional Amendment. His comments reflect his concerns about the current state of affairs in the country and the need for change.
Kwankwaso’s criticism of the Tinubu administration highlights the ongoing debates about resource distribution and regional development in Nigeria. His comments are likely to resonate with many in the north who feel marginalized and neglected by the federal government.
“Let me advise the Federal Government on the distribution of federal resources.
“From the information available to us, it’s like most of the national budget is now tilting in one direction in this country,” he said.
Kwankwaso also criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its alleged unequal distribution of resources between the northern and southern regions of Nigeria. He accused the party of favoring the south in the allocation of scarce resources.
This criticism highlights Kwankwaso’s concerns about regional disparities and the need for more balanced development in the country. He is calling attention to the perceived imbalance in resource allocation and its potential impact on different regions.
“Let me advise those who are struggling by all means to take everything to remember that some of the issues that we have in this part of the country today have to do with the lack of enough resources and mismanagement of the little that comes in.
“That is why we have insecurity, we have poverty and so on. It is happening here mainly, but like a desert, it would go everywhere,” he said.
Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Kano governor, highlighted the poor state of roads in the northern region. He noted that the roads remain in a deplorable condition, indicating a lack of adequate infrastructure development in the area.
In contrast, Kwankwaso pointed out that the APC government allocates large budgetary provisions for infrastructure development in the southern region. This, he believes, shows a disparity in resource allocation between the two regions.
“Yesterday, I was to come by air, but unfortunately my airline decided to shift out takeoff. I had to come by road from Abuja.
“From Abuja to Kaduna to Kano was terrible and the road was started many years ago right from the beginning of the leadership of the APC. Now we are told that there is a road from the south to the East,” he said.
Kwankwaso urged on the Tinubu administration to prioritize fairness in resource allocation. He believes that the government should distribute resources in a way that benefits all regions of the country equally.
This, he argues, is essential for promoting balanced development and addressing the needs of different areas. By doing so, the government can help bridge the gap between regions and foster more inclusive growth.
His plea emphasizes the importance of equitable resource distribution in driving national development and ensuring that no region is left behind.
